Reverend A.H. Voyce first came to my attention when I acquired a cover of the Australian War Memorial, Canberra 5½djoined pair which were issued on February 10, 1958. This cover was not a first day cover, but it was postmarked with a special postmark: R.S.L. NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS/ 14TH B.E.S.L./ CONFERENCE/ 17-21 FEB 1958/ 20 FEB 58/ CANBERRA AUST. This 1d pink Victoria postcard has a roller postmark MELBOURNE/ OC 29–2-30P/ VICT/ 1908 and it was sent to Dr. Benham, Camden House, Exeter, S.A. (Figure 1). The reverse shows that it is from The Mount Lyell Mining & Railway Co. Ltd, 30 Queen Street, Melbourne, 29th Octr 1908. Schmalz Esqre, Secretary, Economical Insurance Co., Berlin, Ontario, Canada and it had a blue 2½d ‘Swan’ stamp of Western Australia with 2 cancellations, a duplex PERTH/ 1/ AP 10/ 01/ W-A with a barred obliterator GPO/ D, as well as a SHIP MAIL ROOM/ 1/ AP 10/ 01/ PERTH. The cover was addressed to Mr. Paul T. (D)iefenderfer, Supt. Of Education, Pago Pago, Tutuila, American Samoa . The registered cover is addressed to W.B. Avery Esqre, Apsley House, Wellington Road, Birmingham, England and a ms. registration number‘3116′ and a crossed out address, are in a blue crayon. The lilac 8d ‘Lyre Bird’ stamp of N.S.W. is postmarked REGISTERED/ B/ MR 26/ 95/ SYDNEY N.S.W, and there is a black handstamp of an ‘R’ in an oval.
